Description

Moor’s heads couple – size small – Bice and Ubaldo

Bice lives in Caltagirone, and has a large garden and an ornate house.
She spends long afternoons under the lemon trees and waits patiently for the right time to pick them.
She uses its leaves to weave spells and its succulent fruits to prepare a delicate marmalade whose flavour seduces all who taste it.
She doesn’t like making too many plans for the future, but she always lays the table for two in the hope that a grand love will one day come knocking at her door.

Ubaldo lives off the fiftieth step of the staircase of Caltagirone.
A strong, sweet-hearted Moor, his dusky face carefully observes all the passers-by as they become entranced by the aroma of his lemon trees, whose beautiful green leaves he uses for his love potions.
Each day he smells the scent of a delicious marmalade floating through the city.
It comes from the window of a house not far from his own, and he knows that sooner or later he will have the courage to knock on its door.

The Moor heads Bice and Ubaldo are 17 cm high.

THE PRODUCTION

The process of creating a Moor’s head vase involves two firings in a kiln.

The first lasts thirty-six hours at a temperature of about 980°C.

After this, the piece is slowly cooled and then immersed in tanks containing the enamel which will give the surface of the object its distinctive, eternally glossy appearance.

Once it has dried, the head is decorated by hand by our master craftsmen and then given a second firing to glaze the enamel.

This takes about thirty-six hours at a temperature of 920°C.

Next, the decorations in gold are applied and the piece is fired for a third time to fix them.

This phase lasts around 24 hours and takes place at temperature of 700°C.

IDEAS AND INSPIRATIONS

The Ubaldo and Bice Moor’s head vase is perfect in the kitchen for holding your wooden spoons or a basil plant, or at the centre of the table filled with delicious, freshly-baked breadsticks.

Or even on your desk, full of coloured pencils, or on the bathroom sink, holding your toothbrushes. It can contain small plants and flowers of all types.

A typical ingredient of Mediterranean cuisine, lemons are a symbol of loving loyalty and protection.

That’s why Ubaldo and Bice are also the ideal gift for a person who is very dear to you.

CARE AND DETAILS

To clean the object, use a soft, damp, non-abrasive cloth.

Do not use chemical cleaners, as these may damage the glaze.

The product should be handled with care, making sure to avoid dropping it, knocking it against hard surfaces (as even the slightest bump can chip the surface) or anything else which might damage it.

Always handle Moor’s heads with care, making sure not to put pressure on the crown or decorations.

Hold the base with both hands when moving your Moor’s Head.
