SMALL SICILIAN BURNIA – SICILIAN NOBLE GREEN

Telling the story of Mediterranean traditions and family warmth is our vocation, and we do it by creating wonderful products in a completely hand-made way.

These large food food jars could be found in every Sicilian home, and each time they were opened it was a cause for celebration.

Inspired by the forms of the past, we have brought this iconic jar back into the light.

PRODUCTION

After the jar and lid have been shaped by hand, they are allowed to dry naturally and slowly in the open air.
When the clay is ready, the products are fired in the kiln for around 36 hours at a temperature of approximately 980 °C.
After the first firing, when they have already been transformed into terracotta, they are left to cool and then immersed in tanks containing coloured glazes.
Once dry, they undergo a second firing which lasts 36 hours and takes place at a temperature of approximately 920°.

Our products are crafted with full respect of the ancient tradition of ceramics-making and with a design-oriented vision in order to offer you excellent handcrafted products with a contemporary twist.

The Sicilian burnia is perfect as a furnishing accessory, as a vase for flowers, or for containing foods such as pasta, flour, nuts, olives and potatoes.

The lid does not provide a vacuum-seal.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

To clean, use a soft, damp, non-abrasive cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners, as these may damage the glaze.
The product may also be washed directly in running water.

Handle with care, taking care to avoid accidental falls, impacts with hard surfaces or anything else that might cause damage.
We recommend not carrying it by the handles as these are the most fragile part of the product.
