THE SICILIAN TUPPO – ETNA CHERRY

Before it is a vase, The Sicilian Tuppo is a container.

Its design is inspired by the shapes of the past—traditional terracotta vessels once used to preserve what was most precious: olive oil, salt, olives, preserves, and grain.

Today, that same idea takes on a new form. Clean, essential lines, raw clay left exposed, and a glossy glaze that naturally flows across the surface like a spontaneous brushstroke.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each piece is wheel-thrown and carefully finished by hand before being left to dry naturally.
Once the clay has reached the ideal consistency, it is fired for approximately 36 hours at 980°C (1,796°F). After this first firing, the piece has transformed into terracotta. It is then left to cool before being hand-dipped into vibrant coloured glazes.
Once dry, it undergoes a second firing, lasting another 36 hours at approximately 920°C (1,688°F), which gives the glaze its rich colour and distinctive finish.

Please note: the lid is not airtight.

CARE AND DETAILS

To clean your Sicilian Tuppo, simply wipe it with a soft, damp, non-abrasive cloth.
Do not use harsh chemical detergents, as they may damage the glazed surface.

The piece can also be rinsed under running water.

As with all handmade ceramics, it should be handled with care. Avoid accidental drops, impacts against hard surfaces, or any other conditions that could compromise its integrity.
