Description
THE SICILIAN CANTARO – SICILIAN BLUE
Used for centuries in island homes to preserve and keep water cool, this large container is much more than a simple household item: it is a symbol of hospitality, craftsmanship and timeless beauty.
Handmade with harmonious shapes, every cantaro embodies ancient knowledge passed down through generations.
PRODUCTION PROCESS
After being hand-shaped, the vase is left to dry naturally and slowly in the open air.
When the clay is ready, it is fired in the kiln for about 36 hours at a temperature of around 980 °C.
Once the first firing is complete, it emerges as terracotta, is cooled, and then immersed in tanks of colored glazes.
After drying, the vase undergoes a second firing that lasts 36 hours at about 920 °C.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Clean with a soft, damp non-abrasive cloth.
Do not use chemical detergents as they may damage the glaze.
Can be rinsed directly under running water.
Handle with care to avoid falls or strong impacts.
Avoid lifting by the handles, as they are the most delicate part of the vase.
